Your Giving At Work

Why Give

As people of God, we give because God has given so much to us.  Our tithes and offerings acknowledge that God is owner and provider of all the basic goods of life - spiritual, physical, and material. As Christians, we are called to be faithful and responsible with the resources entrusted to us by God. We are to manage our God-given gifts of time, talents, and money.

God's plan for the support of His work on this earth is through the tithe and freewill offerings of His people.

The tithe (10% of our increase) is the main source of funding for the proclamation of the gospel to all the world.  This includes evangelistic outreach to the public and the spiritual nurturing of church members.

Tithe is remitted from our local church to the Carolina Conference Office, where a tithe of that is passed up to be shared with the local Union, the larger Division, and the World Church Headquarters.  It helps to support Bible instructors, evangelists, pastors, and administrative staff.  It also supports church camps, schools, media programs, and other evangelistic outreach efforts.

Freewill offerings are a voluntary expression of the giver’s will and generosity, and are used where they are specified to be used. Different ministries in the church are supported with these funds when they are kept local.

For instance, when an offering is taken for our local church budget, the funds are used for building upkeep (utilities etc), Sabbath schools, local evangelism, kids’ ministries, poor funds and similar local needs.  Freewill offerings can be specified for local use, Conferences use, and World Church use, as determined by the Giver.
